Q. What may cause large differences in results between traditional and PUMPWATCH measures
A. Traditional measures are inherently subject to operator induced errors, where the pump's performance at slow flow rates is significantly non linear. Unlike Pumpwatch, such measures may be filled to 60% capacity at fast flow rates and then the balance is trickled in at slow rates and/or with frequent stops and starts. Depending on the linearity of the pump's performance, this process can cause a significant error which is typically an overdispense. The extent of this error is extremely variable, depending on both the operator's technique and the pumps non linearity. Pumpwatch measures uniquely eliminate the former and identify the latter.
